A group of students from around the Bronx ran a 5K in Van Cortlandt Park Sunday to raise money for small businesses affected by looting.

Michael Romero organized the event, saying he wanted to show that positivity still exists in the borough.

He says the event grew traction through social media, drawing dozens of people to participate.

The group, made up mostly of Bronx high school and college students, took part in a 5K run through the park. They also helped to run a bake sale and a donation table.

Organizers say the goal is to raise $1,000 for about a dozen small businesses and to give a little hope to those in need.
