A white history teacher in the Bronx allegedly walked on the backs of black students to demonstrate what being a slave felt like.
The New York Daily News reported that Middle School 118 teacher Patricia Cummings singled out black students and asked them to lie on the floor while she stepped on their backs to show the class what slavery felt like.
According to the report, the incident happened about two weeks ago.
Parents are now calling for action against Cummings in a school with a student body that is predominately black.
A Department of Education spokesperson commented by saying " The alleged behavior has no place in our schools or in society. She has been reassigned away from students and we're providing the school with additional support."
The Department of Education says they are fully investigating the incident.
