Around 3,500 kids flocked to Van Cortlandt Park today to meet some of New York City's finest for this year's Harmony Day.

Officials say Harmony Day started nearly 30 years ago to give youth in the Bronx a chance to interact and form relationships with police officers. Children come from church groups, camps and with their parents.

The day features many fun activities such as dancing, carnival games and rock climbing.

"Usually when they see us, we are working hard, we are doing enforcement, we are doing other necessary things for the community, but now this is a day that they get to see one on one that we are really people just like them," says Lt. Lori Perez.
