A 6-year-old Brooklyn boy is taking his dancing skills to not only entertain others but inspire them as well.
Juice with Jakai's dancing has caught the attention of people on social media. He now has 100,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram. But how did this little 6-year-old reach so much success, so fast?
Back in September, Jakai asked his mother, Keteya Yulmer, to take him to Times Square to watch street dancers.
"We went as tourists and then he asked me, 'Can I dance with them'? And I said, 'Can you dance with them?' So I'm like, 'OK you can go ask.' And he went and he showed them a dance and they were really excited and I'm like, ''OK?' So they asked us to come back constantly. So we went every other weekend and from there, he just started blowing up big," Yulmer recalled.
From there, Juice with Jakai was born.
It's not Jakai's social media following or dance skills that sets him apart from the average 6-year-old -- it's his kindness and message of encouragement to other kids.
To show thanks to all of his fans, Jakai and his mother hosted a meet-and-greet on Saturday at Rollar Wave in Downtown Brooklyn. He got to talk to kids just like himself and skate around with his fans.
Yulmer said since his dancing journey began, she has also seen a boost of confidence in her son.
"I can definitely tell the difference from when he first started. He used to be a little shy. Now when he gets there, he sees the TikTokers, he hugs them. People at Times Square are coming up to him now, asking him if they can take a picture," Yulmer said.
