A Brooklyn business owner is feeding people on the front lines or those who have fallen on hard times due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Palooza Kitchen makes jerk chicken, salmon, rice and peas for hours three days a week. Lesley Cadogan says they feed about 500 people per day including health care workers, first responders and community members.
The Caribbean-based restaurant shut its doors about two weeks ago after Gov. Andrew Cuomo ordered eateries to be available for pickup or delivery only.
Cadogan says his other restaurant, Brooklyn Prime, located on Farragut Road, was doing well enough to help him fund his food pantry out of Palooza Kitchen.
The Nostrand Avenue pantry has received donations, with volunteers serving food and making deliveries.
Cadogan says he wants to continue serving the community for as long as he can.
