When work as a makeup artist and photographer dried up, a Brooklyn couple decided to take advantage of their green thumbs.
"Microgreens grow indoors, they can be controlled. We can control the temperature, the air, the water so we thought this is something we can try,” said Claudia Lake.
Newton Creek Farms was born while Claudia Lake and Benjamin Kabin were both quarantined at their Troutman Street home.
The location allows them to constantly monitor the crop and deliver locally.
There are a few places that customers can buy from directly, including a deli in Williamsburg.
Both owners said they are glad that they made this switch during a stressful time in their life.
With the high demand of their product, the duo is looking to expand in the near future.
