What started as a joke is now turning into internet fame for one Brooklyn man crowned Pedro Pascal's lookalike.
George Gountas, a father and crew member at "The Daily Show," is now known online as “Pedro Number 5” after winning a Pedro Pascal lookalike contest over the weekend.
“My thought process was just go up there and have fun,” Gountas told News 12.
He said the idea began when one of his colleagues sent out a group text suggesting he enter the contest, which came with a prize of free burritos for a year and $50. Gountas said he initially brushed it off, but his wife encouraged him to go for it.
“I didn’t think anything of it. I showed it to my wife a few days later and she was like, ‘Yeah, you’re going to do it,’” he said.
By Sunday evening, “Pedro Number 5” had taken over social media.
“Since then, I’ve been doing all this press — people are sending cars to my house and picking me up,” he said.
While balancing his full-time job and life as a dad, Gountas said he’s enjoying the unexpected attention for now — but his wife has just one request.
“She’s cool with me getting this attention… as long as she gets to meet him," he said, referring to the real Pedro Pascal.
