The Brooklyn Municipal Building will now be known as the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Municipal Building. 

RBG was born in Flatbush in 1933. Sixty years later, she became the second woman to hold a seat on the Supreme Court. 

During her time on the bench, she was known for her fight for gender equality. Elected officials, including Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, say she was an inspiration.

"Ruth Bader Ginsburg has made such a major impact on human beings in this city. Oftentimes we talk about how empowering she was as a woman - but as the son of a woman, my mom benefitted from what she did to change how we treated women in this country,” said Adams. 

Adams first called to rename the building nearly three years ago in 2018. 

The building, located at 210 Joralemon St., was built almost 100 years ago in 1924.
