Some improvements are on the way for roads across the state, including in the Bronx, thanks to $76 million in new federal funding.
The Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program will fund 33 projects to boost the safety of New York roadways. Rep. Jose E. Serrano says the borough is getting $5.7 million to fund three transportation projects.
Bruckner Boulevard will get a pedestrian and bicycle corridor in both directions. East Tremont Avenue will receive pedestrian islands, and new road markings and signals.
The largest chunk of the funding will go toward improving the Grand Concourse between East 171st and 175th streets. Those roads will be resurfaced and get raised medians and bicycle lane buffers.
