Two separate brushfires erupted in Marine Park on Saturday.
FDNY members say no one was hurt and the fire is under control.
This has been the driest October ever recorded in New York City and an air quality advisory is in effect for New York City until Sunday.
The brushfire also contributed to the worst day of air quality in New York since the Canadian wildfires of last year. Several uncontained wildfires in New Jersey also blew smoke into the tristate area.
According to New York City Emergency Management, smoke levels on Saturday night reached 201, or very unhealthy levels. Emergency Management is urging residents to reschedule outdoor events and limit outdoor time to less than an hour, adding that everyone is at risk where levels are unhealthy.
