A family in Brooklyn says they have been without power in their apartment for four days since a pipe burst and destroyed their belongings.

Shamia Kilpatrick said she called for help immediately, but the pipe sprayed water for seven hours until an emergency housing crew stopped the leak.  At that time, there was two inches of water in the apartment.

"When it happened, I was in there by myself. My husband was at work so he couldn't get off. I was in there with a 10-year-old, a 15-year-old, and a 1-year-old. They didn't do nothing.  We lost a lot of stuff. They said that they couldn't replace it because we don't have receipts for the stuff that was damaged," says Kilpatrick.

News 12 reached out to NYCHA for a comment. 

"NYCHA staff made repairs to the broken toilet supply line causing the leak last week and no flooding conditions exist. Electricians will check on the resident's power service today."

Shamia says, "I'm over it. I don't even want to be here no more."

Because she hasn't lived in  the apartment for a year yet, she is not able to request a transfer to other housing.
