A number of COVID-19 mandates are finally being eased after nearly two years of restrictions, including a mandate that required customers to show proof of vaccination.
As part of the easing of restrictions, restaurants and theaters, as well as gyms and other indoor places, will no longer be required to ask customers for proof of vaccination.
On Monday, Mayor Eric Adams spoke with several restaurant owners in East Village who rejoiced the news.
Some are calling it a big help.
Business owners say they are now hoping to welcome even more customers and look forward to getting their businesses back to pre-pandemic times.
However, Mayor Eric Adams says that individual businesses can still decide to keep mandates in place if they choose.
