Family-owned small businesses still have their doors shut after the fire that took place on Dec. 13. The FDNY received the call for that fire at 3:30 a.m. The five-alarm blaze quickly spread to neighboring businesses – including Columbia Florist.

The flower shop has served the community for decades, and store manager Connie Dennis says that the business has water and smoke damage.

Columbia Florist is now running in Tremont, and although Dennis says the fire was devastating, she’s bringing the excitement to get back to serving her neighborhood.

“We miss our community, and we’re sad that we’re so far away that we can’t really service them,” said Dennis. “But we’re here on East Tremont and we still deliver. We’ll be back really soon.”
