A Bronx businesswoman and former reality TV star
is running to be mayor of
New York City.
Barbara Kavovit appeared on multiple episodes of Bravo’s “Real Housewives of
New York City."
She's
the founder and CEO of her own construction company.
She says her inexperience in politics is not a reason to count her out of the
race.
“I think the city is a mess,” Kavovit says. “It’s in crisis and if the
politicians had done such a good job, working so hard, why are we in a crisis
that we’re in?”
She says the first thing she would do on the job is to stabilize the budget and get businesses up and running.
Kavovit says that New Yorkers need to get along with police, so she wants to create committees to go into different areas to see where
they are most needed.
She says that as a businesswoman she has many things she wants to do for small businesses and for young
people in the city.
“I want to be able to give young people everything that I feel that I had,”
Kavovit says. “And I think it will take a very strong woman to do that.”
