The Bronx mother accused of killing her two young children took the stand Friday to testify in the double murder trial against her.
Lisette Bamenga, 32, is accused of poisoning her 4-year-old son and infant daughter and then drowning them in the bathtub in July 2012.
Bamenga testified that her impulsive, erratic behavior started in her teens.
Bamenga told the court she had bouts of severe depression after the births of her two young children.
The defense says that Bamenga was suffering from postpartum psychosis when she killed her children. Prosecutors, however, claim that she murdered her children to get back at their cheating father.
Dozens of supporters came to court to rally behind Bamenga, who worked as a school teacher in the Bronx.
The case is expected to be turned over to the judge on Wednesday for a verdict. If convicted, Bamenga faces life in prison.
