One fan base in the Bronx watched every minute of Mexico's stunning victory over defending champion Germany on Sunday.
Mexico walked into the match ranked No. 15 by FIFA, having lost in the round of 16 in each of the past six World Cups.
Germany, on the other hand, is ranked No. 1 with the second-most championships in World Cup history and entered the group stage as defending champion.
Fans gathered at El Molcajete on Westchester Avenue to watch the nail-biting game. Mexican-American soccer fans were praying for a win and showing off their pride.
Mexico stunned Germany in the group stage opener with a tense, 1-0 victory.
Germany is not eliminated, but Mexico now has the upper hand moving forward.
Some fans tell News 12 that more important than a win or loss is the bonding experience from sitting down to watch the World Cup together.
