A car driver and a motorcycle rider were taken to a hospital after they collided, snarling traffic near the Bronx Zoo Thursday.
Police say the car and motorcycle collided on East Fordham Road near Southern Boulevard at around 5 a.m., causing the car to flip onto its hood on the sidewalk near an entrance to the Bronx Zoo.
The accident snarled traffic for hours and a large section of East Fordham Road was closed heading eastbound, causing heavy delays and bumper-to-bumper traffic. Traffic was backed up for miles on East Fordham Road and buses were detoured.
The motorcyclist and driver are expected to be OK.
The accident is under investigation.
