Gun violence czar A.T. Mitchell and Mayor Eric Adams joined New Yorkers outside of Barclays Center on Friday to remember those who lost their lives to gun violence in 2022.
Ceremonies to commemorate these victims are being held across the country in solidarity with New York City while also praising the efforts made over the last year aimed at ending this form of violence.
The mayor championed efforts made by the city to increase summer youth jobs and programs to help invest in the youth of New York City and keep them off the streets.
“We still have a far way to go,” said Mitchell. “We are still not out of the woods, and so the issue of gun violence still prevails… and still an issue epidemic that plagues our communities.”
