Yankee Stadium hosted its 10th annual Winter Wonderland Friday, giving away thousands of free toys to children from around the borough.
The stadium’s Great Hall was transformed into the North Pole while 5,000 children chose from more than 8,000 gifts – 6,000 of them were from Walmart.
Santa and Mrs. Claus were the stars of the show, aided by the Highbridge Voices Choir.
The children came from different schools and community-based organizations. The Yankees work with their partners throughout the community to put together a list of organizations to invite them for the holidays.
All leftover toys will be donated to community-based organizations.
