The city's Department of Health hosted a town hall meeting at Maestros Caterers in Morris Park to discuss the recent cases of Legionnaires' disease in the neighborhood.
Six buildings at Einstein College have tested positive for legionella bacteria, which causes the disease. Some of them have multiple cooling towers, where the bacteria is commonly found.
Officials say that one person has died and 13 total cases have been reported in the neighborhood.
Health officials say 11 of those people have underlying health issues, which could exacerbate their conditions.
The city tested 35 Morris Park cooling towers for legionella over the weekend and found that 15 contained the bacteria. Officials ordered those cleaned and disinfected.
All of the towers had been tested after a previous outbreak of Legionnaires' disease over the summer.
