Mayor Bill de Blasio is applauding today's
expansion of vaccine eligibility
for New Yorkers.
Government employees, building service workers and nonprofit workers are now
eligible for the coronavirus vaccine.
All vaccine sites can also
vaccinate any eligible New Yorkers regardless of where they live or why they
are eligible, though pharmacies will
continue to serve the 60+ population and teachers.
The mayor also applauded the city’s efforts in helping those who survived the
Holocaust get vaccinated.
He said a 95-year-old woman born
in Poland got vaccinated through the city’s special efforts.
"The joy she was feeling
was so powerful, knowing she was safe,” de Blasio said.
The mayor said that the city has
administered more than 3 million vaccinations so far.
