The city Department of Transportation's art program and the Department of Youth and Community Development are partnering together to spread awareness of sexual assault.
Paintings and drawings meant for the walls of the Family Justice Center are outside on the streets near the Grand Concourse in display cases.
The art, chosen by middle and high school students, highlights the pain and hurt that sexual assault can cause while empowering others to be advocates.
Young artists say they hope their pieces will help change the stigma behind reporting sexual assault.
"This is my body, my experience and I have the right to say no," says artist Bethany Garcia, of Bushwick.
