City Council members joined the community on the steps of City Hall today to urge that more should be done to rescue the nearly 300 Nigerian girls who were kidnapped from their school last month.
Many are afraid that the girls will be sold off as child brides and slaves.
Protesters say they are optimistic that the girls will be united with their families as long as people keep demanding it.
Protests have been planned throughout the week in an effort to raise awareness and call for the girls' safe return to their families.
Next week, protesters plan to rally outside the United Nations every day demanding action.
