Residents say a sinkhole on King Avenue on City Island continues to grow.
As News 12 crews were on scene, crews witnessed the hole reopening after black rubble covered the original sinkhole.
Residents say they initially started to file complaints with 311 at the beginning of the month.
One resident tells says she walks through King Avenue every day and never noticed the sinkhole until it started to get bigger.
Other people who live on the block say they hope it doesn't affect their homes.
The bottom of the sinkhole now holds puddles of water, and the black rubble is pouring back into the hole.
The Department of Environmental Protection says it was planning to send over crews to make the area safe for residents.
It says an investigation into the root cause will begin on Wednesday.
