The City Planning Commission voted Wednesday to approve Mayor Eric Adams’ City of Yes' for Housing Opportunity plan - a proposal aimed at ending the city's growing homelessness problem.

In addition to increasing housing, the plan is also slated to make the construction of residential units easier, eliminate parking requirements for new developments and offer opportunities for new business to open in residential areas.

The plan was recently approved by all five boroughs with the intentions to make life easier for those living in them.

However, some Bronx residents have expressed hesitancies toward the pending plan and how it can impact their borough.

"The housing developments, I think it's good that it gives people a place to live," says resident Michael Noonan. "But if they're not affordable, then no one can live in there."

Other residents have expressed a concern that the character of their neighborhood will change with the coming proposal.

The next step for the proposal will be for a final vote and review from the City Council, which will happen on Oct. 2 at the New York Law School.
