A special round of applause was given to a New Jersey triathlete who was released from the hospital on Thursday.
Arland Macasieb is a professional triathlete and nationally recognized bicyclist. He was hospitalized at St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for weeks after he was struck by a vehicle earlier this month.
"He was caught by a car and the injury was pretty horrific. I would say he was lucky in a certain way because he didn't have any major injury to his brain or head. But, he has fractures all over and he had a very bad injury to his arm and hand,” says Dr. Silvio Podda.
Doctors, nurses and staff applauded Macasieb as he was released from the hospital, and wished him a speedy recovery.
