It's Opening Day as young athletes took the field for the start of the Co-op City Little League season.
Rep. Jamaal Bowman threw the first pitch to kick off the games taking place on Saturday.
Three weeks ago, Co-op City Little League President Alex Ruiz spoke with News 12 about the much-needed repairs that the field had to see. He's since been able to secure $20,000 in funding with the help of local officials to give kids the opportunity to see out their baseball dreams.
Some of that $20,000 will be going toward replacing the field lights for night games.
News 12’s Valarie Ryan joined in on the fun and has more from the field.
