Artists are gathering in Huntington Station to use their talents to encourage more people to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
"Shots to Reunite" is a coalition comprised art counsels, artists, community and business leaders and public servants whose goal is to increase confidence within the community in the vaccine.
Organizers say that they may face more vaccine hesitancy as vaccine supply increases.
They believe that by using artists, they can start healthy conversations to build confidence in the vaccine which has been proven effective.
Organizers say they wanted to gather in Huntington Station because it was one of the first spots in Suffolk County and Long Island to be hit hard by the virus.
They add that they're excited that various art counsels from across the Island are participating in the event to launch the campaign. They are also eager to get the word out to other artists because they feel that their works will be instrumental in boosting vaccine confidence.
The deadline for artists to submit their work is May 17.
