The Coast Guard is urging New York residents and those in the tri-state area to prepare for Tropical Storm Isaias as it is expected to make its way up the East Coast.

Officials say the storm could bring high surf, dangerous rip currents, coastal flooding, heavy rainfall and high winds to the area by Tuesday.
The Coast Guard is telling people to pull any small boats out of the water and to store and secure safety gear and paddle crafts.

Those with large boats are being told to put them in an inland marina or pull them out of the water and store them in an area that is not susceptible to flooding.

Boaters should also secure everything on board, including any safety devices.
The Coast Guard says it is monitoring Isaias and that both recreational and commercial boaters should be prepared.
