Community Board 10 has voted 29 to 5 against Bally's new casino project Thursday evening.

Bally's says the chairman was cut off in the middle of his remarks and the community board eventually asked the public to leave and voted behind closed doors.

Throgs Neck residents have voiced both concern and support for the plan to put a casino at the golf course in Ferry Point Park. Thursday's vote was just one step in the lengthy process and doesn't prevent the project from moving forward.

Bally's still needs to win one of the state gaming commission's three licenses for a casino downstate. Bally's announced a community benefits package in their effort to get more support, which includes 4,000 new jobs for the borough. They also say they have a plan to help city parks care for space, donate to youth sports and local business along with making the park easier to get to with added bus stops and free shuttles.
