3h agoThe NYPD teamed up with the Morning Star Full Gospel Assembly for a community family fun Saturday in Tremont.
The event brought together a mixture of giveaways and games alongside church officials who led prayers for both residents and migrants who attended.
Community leader Monique Johnson said that the groups that organized the event did it for more than just fun and games.
"The purpose of this event is that, we realize that some people will never come into the church house. So we decided to bring the church to the community. Not only are we bringing the church to the community. We want everyone to know that the community, the church, and the police department is one -- was serving as one. That is the purpose today," Johnson said.
