Police are on the hunt for a young man accused of trying to sexually assault an 11-year-old boy near White Plains Road and Magenta Avenue, according to authorities.
Police say the suspect, who is in his late teens, threatened the boy with a knife and forced him into a park on May 30.
Surveillance video shows the suspect punch the boy and attempt the sexual assault. The boy was able to escape his assailant.
Councilman Andy King says the city is working to keep the community and its streets safe.
"Developmental years are supposed to be full of joy in life and growth," King says.
Parents picking up their kids at the nearby P.S. 41 say news of the attack disturbs them.
"I got two girls, so God knows how I would feel if someone were to snatch them up," one parent tells News 12. "At the end of the day, there's supposed to be more cops out here to watch the kids."
