Grassroots community organizations joined together in Brownsville for a good time on Tuesday to mark the launch of the Brownsville Safety Alliance.
The initiative aims to bring public safety and community wellness to the area. The launch was held on the corner of Livonia and Rockaway avenues.
The multi-day event was organized by groups that are part of the Brownsville Safety Alliance.
They have events like these every few weeks that aim to uplift the community and denounce violence.
Tuesday was the first day of the four-day event, which will be running through Saturday.
Tents were set up to help people with something as simple as masks and hand sanitizer to vaccine appointments and legal help and mentorship programs.
Organizers say this event helps to show what this neighborhood is made of.
Organizers say they’re planning to put together another event in September.
