Fed up and frustrated commuters are calling for the return of traffic agents at a busy Bronx intersection.
According to drivers, the corner of Southern Boulevard and Allerton Avenue, just off the Bronx River Parkway, is plagued by delays and congestion. At one point, three lanes are reduced to one, making the buildup of cars even worse.
The Bronx Park East Community Association says traffic agents used to be stationed at the corner during the morning rush when they're needed most, but that they haven't been seen in at least three months, aside from occasional evening hours.
Commuters add that out-of-sync traffic lights and confusing traffic signs are also contributing to the problem.
News 12 the Bronx reached out to the NYPD and DOT, but has yet to hear back.
