A major construction project that will shut down parts of Bronx Boulevard for several weeks began Monday.
Con Ed says the project will upgrade gas service in the Wakefield section of the Bronx.
They say construction will take place every day during the week from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The project is expected to be complete in October.
Officials say construction will happen along Bronx Boulevard between East 219th and 233rd streets.
Parking restrictions are in effect, and some temporary pedestrian walkways have been placed, Con Ed says.
They say residents living along the area should expect to hear noise related to the construction.
