The team at ConBud is hard at work to get the storefront ready for its grand opening on Saturday.

The storefront is located on the corner of Third Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard. According to the staff, it took them over a year and a half to get their license from the state.

However, what makes this legal dispensary special is that it is run by Michael Montas, from Castle Hill.

Montas has been arrested and has served jail time from selling weed dating back to when he was just 14 years old.

Over the last two years, he says he has been given a second chance to turn his life around.

"Being that we went through the arrests and the war on drugs and cannabis, other people deserve another opportunity,” Montas said.

Accompanying the opening will be a block party complete with live entertainment. Local leaders are slated to attend, including Bronx borough president Vanessa L. Gibson.

Staff says a portion of the money made from sales will be going back into the community through various nonprofits in the Bronx.
