Neighbors on Mace Avenue in the Allerton section of the borough say they feel trapped by the floodwaters inundating their sidewalk during rainstorms.
One neighbor says the issue has been constant for the 20 years they have lived there.
They have taken matters into their own hands by sweeping the access water into the streets and building barriers to protect their basements.
Neighbors say they've reached out to 311 but that nothing's been done. News 12 contacted the city Department of Environmental Protection about the issue.
"DEP has previously inspected this condition and found the roadway is not sloped towards the catch basins,” the department said in a statement.
News 12 reached out to the Department of Sanitation about summonses Mace Avenue neighbors have received from garbage left behind by flooding.
News 12 also contacted the Department of Transportation, which released a statement: "DOT is aware of the issue and is coordinating a site meeting with our roadway repair maintenance division and sidewalk inspection management division for this area."
