A historic church in the Bronx is undergoing a major restoration.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church is being restored after nearly 100 years of wear and tear to the Catholic Church.
Father Morris says the church will be getting new floors and pews as part of a $1.6 million renovation project.
That money was raised by local businesses, the congregation and the community.
Last year Father Morris says the exterior of the church was revamped for about $1 million.
He says the construction started three weeks ago and is expected to be completed by Sept. 2, on the exact day the first Mass was held 100 years ago back in 1917.
The congregation says its services will be held in an adjacent worship space while the church undergoes construction.
