Retailers and restaurants are ready to cash in on an expected $25.8 billion spending for Valentine's Day this year.

Consumers are expect to spend $185.81 each on average, nearly $8 more than over the past 5 years.

The top gifts include candy, greeting cards, flowers and jewelry, all which could reach record spending this year.

About a third of consumers plan to go out for dinner and other activities, totaling $4.9 billion. You can expect to see higher menu prices.

But remember, celebrating your significant other doesn't have to break the bank -- stick to a budget, redeem gift cards, or plan a romantic dinner at home.
