After discovering human remains in the basement of a Walton Avenue building, police have arrested the building's super for allegedly killing his teenage daughter.
Police have charged Miguel Matias, 34, with murder and manslaughter in the death of his 14-year-old daughter. Matias allegedly dumped boiling water on the teenager after catching her on a computer he had forbid her to go on.
It is believed Matias then dumped the girl's body into the incinerator after she passed out from the boiling water. Tenants say the girl's mother suffered a non-fatal heart attack when she learned of the death.
Matias had a history of being abusive to his children, according to the building's tenants.
An investigation into the death is ongoing. The medical examiner has not yet determined the exact cause of death.
