A lawsuit has been filed by the father of a Valley Stream High School student who says she was sexually assaulted by a school bus driver.
Court records state that the father is suing Nassau County, the Valley Stream Central High School District, the bus company, and the bus driver accused of the sexual assaults.
Prosecutors say Giovanny Campos drove a bus route and raped the teenage girl multiple times, including on the bus.
News 12 is told he also sexually abused the girl in his Queens apartment.
The lawsuit filed this week claims that the county, the district, the bus company and the driver were negligent.
Valley Stream Central High School District Statement: The District is aware of legal action which has been filed and criminal charges concerning the disturbing allegations against a bus driver formerly employed by a transportation provider which provided shuttle bus services last year. Our District is a place where our students should be safe, and we condemn in absolute terms any violation of that safety, as well as the unspeakable harm the accused is alleged to have inflicted.
The District does not comment on pending litigation, but as we communicated to our community, the accused was removed from providing services to our District when the allegations were first raised. Since that time, we have been cooperating with law enforcement in their investigation of this matter. Additionally, we have offered assistance and mental health resources to the affected student, their family, and any other students who may be in need. We have and continue to encourage anyone with additional information regarding this matter to immediately report it to our staff and to the Nassau County Police Department.
