After seven years of planning, Crotona Park East is being transformed from an abandoned industrial park area into a vibrant residential community.
City developers say they are in the process of building affordable housing, which includes 1,300 apartments for Bronx residents.
Gifford Miller, with Signature Urban Properties, says he's worked with borough officials on this project for quite some time. He says all the work they are doing, including in the West Farms area, is in response to the needs of the community.
Miller adds that about 50 percent of employees working on the project now live in the borough.
