Bronx residents helped kids get ready for school in Crotona Park.

The borough's annual back-to-school barbecue gave out school supplies to more than 100 kids Saturday afternoon.

This is the eighth year that kids received school supplies from the community.

Volunteers said the event helped show children the importance of education.
