Con Edison says they are working to fix a power outage in Crown Heights Sunday
that was caused by a damaged cable.
Residents at 421 Crown St. say they noticed the lights went out early Sunday
morning. News 12 spotted an emergency Con Edison crew vehicle parked across the
street.
A Con Edison employee tells News 12 the outage is a result of a damaged
cable. They say they’re waiting for another crew to assist them with the issue.
The weather is causing a delay in repairs as company crews work on other
incidents throughout the boroughs.
Tenants of the Crown Heights building say they’re desperate for electricity due
to the amount of elderly residents in the building. Some neighbors worry that won’t
be able to use their stoves to make food or refrigerate medication.
Power is expected to be restored in the area at some point Sunday afternoon,
according to Con Edison crews.
