New statistics from the NYPD show that crimes reported in Bronx parks are up more than 30 percent.

Williamsbridge Oval, Mullaly, Macombs Dam, Claremont and Crotona parks are among those included on the list.

Councilman Andrew Cohen says residents should take rises in crime with a grain of salt.

"I think it's good to have the data, but I think it's a product of improved reporting rather than an increase or a serious spike in crime," he says.

An NYPD spokesperson tells News 12 that the new data isn't cause for alarm, saying, "Crime in city parks is less than 1 percent of all reported crime in New York City. City parks represent 14 percent of New York City land mass, which makes them one of the safest places in the city and the country."
