Mayor Bill de Blasio unveiled his plan Monday to increase the amount of affordable housing in New York City.

De Blasio spoke about his new plan from College Avenue in the Bronx. Addressing what he calls an "affordability crisis" in the city, de Blasio said his plan calls for 200,000 affordable homes within the next years.

Plans to add affordable homes include working with developers to set aside more units for affordable and middle-income housing. Another problem the plan faces is lack of space in some neighborhoods.

"All neighborhoods are facing an affordability crisis, so I believe that most neighborhoods are quite receptive to looking at areas where we can rezone," says Director of City Planning Carl Weisbrod.

The plan also calls for the preservation of current affordable housing units.
