An expected arraignment never happened on Wednesday in a possible case of love gone wrong after a man was stabbed and killed in a Kingsbridge Heights apartment building.
Police arrested 37-year-old Cynthia Phillips for the death of 40-year-old Dwayne Valentine. Bronx DA sources say Phillips was in the hospital on Wednesday at the time of the expected arraignment.
Late Monday night, police arrived at Phillips' apartment building on Grand Avenue. There they found 40-year-old Dwayne Valentine with stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Family and friends of both Valentine and Phillips said that the two were in a relationship.
Phillips was brought in on charges of murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, but official charges from the Bronx District Attorney’s Office have not yet been filed.
According to sources close to the investigation, both Valentine and Phillips dealt with issues of domestic violence in past relationships. Phillips had not been arraigned at the time or this publication.
