Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson hosted the annual Denim Day march Thursday in an effort to bring more attention to sexual assault awareness.
"All the clients that we have spoken to acknowledge that the two challenges that they have faced in their road to recovery and healing is number one, acknowledging that you need help and number two, reaching out and accepting help from someone else," says Gibson. "You feel vulnerable, but let me tell you, we will be your foot soldiers. We will be your soldiers in this movement to lift up our clients."
April is Sexual Violence Awareness Month. Every last Wednesday of April, survivors and advocates wear jeans to stand in solidarity.
