Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina announced a new dual language program aimed at changing the way students see different cultures.
Farina says the plan is to open 40 dual language programs this September. She says 25 schools will be creating new programs, while 15 schools will expand on existing programs.
The languages taught include Mandarin Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Japanese and Spanish.
Each school will receive a $25,000 grant in federal funds to run the programs.
Eleven Brooklyn schools will be participating in the new program, the most of all the boroughs.
