New York City is gearing up to make streets safer just in time for back to school.
The New York City Department of Transportation is looking to “daylight” at least 1,000 areas across the city by the end of the year. This is to increase visibility and remove obstructions at intersections.
So far, there are a total of 300 locations that have the safety measures in place, with many of them being in the Bronx. According to Mayor Eric Adams, the remaining 700 locations are almost done.
Of the “daylight” locations, 127 are by schools all in efforts to keep children safe this school year.
